Bushnell H250L Auto Dim Headlamp

Just recently I got to use the Bushnell H250L Auto Dim Headlamp supplied by Tasco Australia. I really liked how easy it was to set up and how comfortable it was to wear.

When you’re out hunting there is always a need for a good light. You can always bet that you end up in the dark hunting and be out till last light. So it is always important that you carry a good light, and always a bonus if you have headlamp to keep your hands free especially when searching for this boar shot on last light!

This headlamp puts out 250Lumens and then also has a boost feature with 315 Lumens! With the light being a very bright white light it is awesome up close and also shows a good distance. It comes with 3 AA Batteries and has a battery saving lockout so that will prevent any accidental battery use when it is in your pack.

  • 250 Lumens + 312 Lumens boost feature
  • Advanced auto dimming feature automatically adjusts from long distance brightness to dim light for close viewing
  • Advanced Bushnell T.I.R. optic with collimated beam technology
  • Dual output: spot for long range, flood for wide proximity lighting
  • Rear mounted external battery for extra-long runtime
  • Regulated circuit delivers consistent brightness throughout the useable life of the battery
  • Red Halo low-lumen mode designed to enhance sight without compromising natural night vision
  • Battery saving lock-out prevents accidental battery use
  • Top-quality Cree LEDs

Hunting with the team at TSA

Well, what a start to the trip…..

An hour into the journey travelling in a remote part of central NSW with no reception and minimal traffic (1-2 vehicles a day) my borrowed trailer decided to add some excitement to the day with a blowout due to a perished tyre, not a big problem had two spares so i carried on route to meet the team from Tasco Sales Australia to do some product testing in the central region of NSW.

40 minutes from the first blowout the spare decided it had enough Continue reading Hunting with the team at TSA

This little piggy wont make the markets..

On a recent trip across the ranges we stopped in to help a farmer with a pig problem and within minutes we were straight into the action!

Dan had walked straight into wallow near where the mob was last sighted and a swift shot out of his U/O 12ga 00shot sent a large sow on the rampage sending other pigs in all direction and as we formed a shooting line for safety a good sized young boar popped out a few meters in front of me!

I heard him coming so I chambered a round in my Browning A-Bolt ,22-250 and had minimal time to shoulder the rifle when he popped out sending a 55gr Federal pill into his left lung slowing him enough to finish with a follow up shot for good measure.

Creek shooting is some of the best and fastest shooting that can be done, however i think a shotgun or open sight lever would be a better choice in future. Ben

Tick remover

Ticks are mans best friends worst friend… and we found this rather cool clip featuring the tick twister pro and it looks like it works quiet well by not squeezing the body while removing that can be easily done with fingers and tweezers!

Shame about the seedy 80’s porno music…

Families that hunt together stay together

By Kim Clarke

It’s  6:00am and the alarm is going off, out of bed we stumbled into our Camo gear , well at least 3 of us into camo and one little 3 year old refusing the camo and going for a pink puffer vest and pink sunnies instead. The kids are still half asleep and to be honest I am still half asleep also, COFFEE!! We need coffee ASAP! All the other essentials, quad bike, fridge and hunting gear carefully packed in the Ute ready to go. A quick bite to eat, meet up with our friends and were on the road.

It’s not long and the kids are fast asleep, luckily as the roads are muddy, windy and bumpy and usually result in at least one kid vomiting. OH WAIT, Continue reading Families that hunt together stay together

Foxtrot Hiking Boots from Hunters Element by Christie Pisani

BourkeOct2014 Billy2 (9)

Footwear are like tyres.  We know it should be high quality, after all it’s our only connection with the earth while we walk. But it’s just so tempting to skimp on the good mud terrains and whack on a pair of retreads to get by. Works in most cases, and I personally like the feel of a soft thin sole when stalking deer in the lush greens of South East Queensland, and wetsuit booties are often the boot of choice. But Continue reading DOIN’ THE FOXTROT
