Hunting is not all about the shot or the dead animal, it means so much more than that to me. The time you get to spend quality time with your family out into the bush. No screen time just taking in the breath taking views, and keeping the watchful eye on anything that might move.
When I was a young kid I loved nothing more than going out spot lightning on a weekend and see who could catch the first bunny. These days’ kids spend more time on the lounge playing games. So what is a better way to get the kids involved in some outdoor living?
The excitement you see on the kids’ faces when they see something is rewarding enough and explain to them about all the different animals and types of trees. You can show them the different footprints you will be amazed at how much they will take in and we all know kids love to ask questions. Although my two girls are still quite small we will take them on certain trips depending on the length of time and where we are going.
You always want to put SAFETY first and always pack plenty of FOOD and SNACKS you can never have too much!!!!! You don’t want your kids to get bored and need to keep them interested, you know your self if you are sitting there and it is freezing it is not much fun, if your not having fun fair chance the kids have had a enough too.
I feel there is a great importance in teaching our next generation about respecting our natural environment and to be able to enjoy the beauty of our great outdoors. I thrive to do my best and look forward to teaching our girl’s the skills on how to survive in the bush as we guide and watch them grow into the next extreme huntress
People hear the word hunting and the first thing they thing of is killing a animal but it is so much more then that. Hunting teaches you so many different things such as Patience, Discipline, Ethics, Sustainability, Appreciation, Confidence, Perseverance and a lot of hard work But most of all knowing that you are playing a big role in Conservation.
I really want to be able to demonstrate to all people, the power of drive, ambition and be positive role models for all women, men and children. Above all share the message of conservation hunting. Purposeful hunting. Hunting that gives back what it takes.
I have now been named in the top 20 in the world in the Extreme Huntress competition, it is a competition open to all women who are outdoorswomen and want to be positive role models for the next generation involved in hunting.
